Year & Course: 2nd Year Politics and International Relations
Favourite Walk: Anything near Burbage Brook - don’t overlook what’s close to home!
Fun Fact: The club only went about an hour last year before anyone fell over, as I became the first by sliding down Win Hill into the mud on the very first walk of the year - not one to be very proud of…
Advice to Freshers: The first year will go by so much faster than you can imagine - make the most of it! With the Peak District next door even the occasional breath of fresh air helps so much to get away from the bustle of uni life.
Year & Course: 2nd Year International Relations and Politics
Favourite Walk: Old Man of Coniston
Fun Fact: I also really enjoy cycling. Last year I cycled from uni to my hometown, nearly 100km!
Advice to Freshers: Put yourself out there and try everything - uni is a once in a lifetime opportunity and you never know when you might find your people.
Year & Course: 2nd Year Mechanical Engineering
Favourite Walk: Cadair Idris via the Pony path or the Fairfield Horseshoe
Fun Fact: ran from Hathersage to Derby (57km) for a bit of fun. I also enjoy more extreme outdoor recreation such as orienteering and fell running.
Advice to Freshers: Go out and talk to people, make lots of friends and find stuff to do that you really enjoy and have a passion for !

Favourite Walk: Any walks around hope valley
Fun Fact: I have traveled to 25 countries so far
Advice to Freshers: Try anything you can even if you have never don’t it before. You never have to go back if you don’t like it but you may find something you love

Fun Fact: I love to forage while on walks (responsibly and cautiously)! The Peak District is the perfect place for it, being home to over 2,000 species on fungi!
Advice to Freshers: Give yourself space and time to settle, and embrace changes of the three or more years you’re here! You’re growing and learning, which is really exciting!!

Favourite Walk: Ladybower reservoir
Advice to Freshers: Don’t worry about not making friends straight away, you’ll constantly be meeting new people
